Course Description  In this module, the student learns to appreciate some important non- technical issues pertaining to Computer Science profession. After completing this module, the students should be able to: •discuss issues in the development and employment of free software, •discuss issues in copyright, in particular those concerning the distribution and use of software and electronic documents, •discuss issues in patents, in particular those affecting the software industry, •discuss the importance of and threats to free and open standards, •analyze compromising situations that conflict with professional ethics, •discuss the need for and enforcement of privacy in the digital world, •discuss how the computer and the Internet can be abused by criminals, •discuss other how selected topics such as green computing.
