Course Description  To introduce students with no prior knowledge of mathematics beyond O-level to the notational conventions and rules governing algebraic equations, and to the properties and uses of the operations of differentiation and integration. On completing this module, the student should be able to recognise and graph a range of standard functions, make use of a variety of algebraic and trigonometric identities to simplify algebraic expressions, add and subtract vectors in 2 or 3 dimensions, and differentiate and integrate a range of elementary functions.
