Course Description  From the lecture part of this course, students will be able to: • Demonstrate a solid knowledge of the different type of organometallic ligands, the types of compounds that they form and their reactivity; • Distinguish between sigma-and pi-bonded organometallis ligands and their mode of bonding to transition metals; • Understand the differences between the d-block and f-block elements • Apply group theory to predicting the spectroscopic and bonding properties of molecules; From the practical part of this course, students should be able to; • Utilize the techniques of spectroscopy and group theory for molecular structure determination; apply the theory and concepts in practical experiments.
