| Course Description |
This module introduces the functional aspects of language use through an integration of four major components of the degree programme: pragmatics, language & discourse, sociolinguistics and psycholinguistics. Through case studies and a variety of texts types, students will explore, familiarize themselves with and analyse the interaction between context, language and meaning. Furthermore, students will be able to relate sociolinguistic theory to the linguistic situation(s) in Brunei and other countries in SEA.
