Course Description |
This course provides students with an overview of drama in Western and Asian contexts. Students will learn the main elements of the dramatic form such as plot, characterization, theme, dialogue and setting, as well as the different dramatic devices of communicating meaning to the audience. Different drama genres from Western and Asian playwrights will be studied, including traditional and modern theatre, children’s theatre, musical drama, technology theatre and so on. Through this course, students will also learn why drama is important to the development of nation, culture and society, as well as how drama contributes to the study of the arts and humanities.
