Course Description | The aim of this module is to explore the relationship between the disciplines of linguistics and sociology. Students will be introduced to the basic analytical concepts from sociology for the study of language use. By the end of the module, students will be able to appreciate how these sociological concepts are employed in observing, categorizing, describing and explaining the use of language at the level of individuals and various levels of society. |
