Course Description |
A current trend in many scientific and practical fields of human activity is to capture, store, process, analyse and disseminate data within a spatially referenced framework. To facilitate this, a geographic information system (GIS) is used. The major aim of the course is to introduce students to elementary but fundamental concepts, methods and techniques essential for effective handling and utilization of spatially related data and information. The major objective is to develop the students’ awareness, capabilities and skills, both theoretical and practical, allowing them to comfortably study any course requiring spatially referenced data such as environmental and development studies. This is achieved by introducing students to GIS software.
