Course Description |
This module aims to examine the history of the South Asian region in general, and to
understand in particular the dynamics of inter-State relationships among the leading nations
of South Asia, especially India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Module Content :
The module will offer a general overview of the history of South Asia since the beginning of
the twentieth century to the ending of the British Raj and its aftermath. Students will be
exposed to the underlying conflicts and the need for accommodation in the region by India
and its South Asian partners. Students are further expected to have knowledge of the
histories of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in particular.
